IDEA enters the video world
We are excited to announce a new IDEA feature that we think will enhance the archive tremendously: videos.
Many who visit IDEA are visual learners, but until now we haven’t been able to offer any visual demonstrations of accents and dialects. But, with new Received Pronunciation and General American videos, we are now able to offer that experience. Go here to watch. (A big thank-you to Senior Editor Sarah Nichols for her contribution.)
If you are interested in submitting a video to IDEA, please contact IDEA Executive Editor Cameron Meier at editor@dialectsarchive.com.
We have wanted to add videos for a long time, inspired by other dialect collections and our own desire to do so – dating back to 1998 when IDEA was founded. But, back then, we chose audio, as internet video services, including YouTube, were either non-existent or in their infancy. So we’re proud to finally launch this exciting new project.
