The subject and his parents were born and raised in Bangkok, his mother being from the suburbs; however, his grandmother was Chinese, from Southeast China, and spoke Teochew. He attended school one hour from Bangkok, in Pathum Thani. His classmates came from all around Thailand. He began learning English at age seven.

I was born and raised in Bangkok. Um, I had my undergrad at Bangkok University, majoring in directing. Um, so, yeah, and after that I, I taught there, at Bangkok University, for three years before I came here to, to the U.S. to get, uh, to get a higher education at Illinois State University in their M.F.A. directing program. And this is my third year, and it’s been good so far, and I am proud of my journey.
