Bio: Helen Gent works as an advanced linguist at SRI International’s Speech Technology and Research Laboratory. She earned her MA in linguistics from University College London, and her Ph.D at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her primary linguistic passion is computational phonology, with a particular focus on prosody modeling and analysis. Helen’s research foci include irony detection in speech, text-to-speech synthesis, automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, and human-computer interaction.
