Bio: Helen Gent earned her MA in Linguistics at University College London and is presently pursuing her Ph.D at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her primary linguistic passion is computational phonology, with a particular focus on prosody modeling and analysis. Helen’s research foci include irony detection in speech, text-to-speech synthesis, automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, and human-computer interaction.
