Hi. In Poland. I’m from in Poland. I’m living in Gdańsk. I’m 10. I have two brothers. My favorite actor is Arnold Schwarzenegger. I, I love pizza.

Dwie godziny później kufer Harrego zapakowano do bagażnika, ciotka Petunia zdołała namówić Dudleya, by usiadł z tyłu obok Harrego i ruszyli.

[English translation: The next day, Harry woke up at 5 in the morning and was so excited, he could not sleep. He stood up and pulled up his jeans, because he did not want to flaunt around the platform in a wizard’s robe; he will change in the train. He checked his list once again whether he has everything he is supposed to have, double-checked if Hedwig is locked in her birdcage, and started walking circles around his room, waiting for the Dursleys to get up. Two hours later, Harry’s chest was loaded into the trunk, and aunt Petunia was able to persuade Dudley to sit in the back with Harry by his side, and they set off.]

The archive provides:

  • Recordings of accent/dialect speakers from the region you select.
  • Text of the speakers’ biographical details.
  • Scholarly commentary and analysis in some cases.
  • In most cases, an orthographic transcription of the speakers’ unscripted speech.  In a small number of cases, you will also find a narrow phonetic transcription of the sample (see Phonetic Transcriptions for a complete list).  The recordings average four minutes in length and feature both the reading of one of two standard passages, and some unscripted speech. The two passages are Comma Gets a Cure (currently our standard passage) and The Rainbow Passage (used in our earliest recordings).
