John Fleming

Bio: John Fleming is a Toronto-based dialogue/dialect coach and actor whose work with the International Dialects of English Archive started as a research assistant at York University. He has since coached theatre productions, films, and television commercials; run workshops with ACTRA Toronto and at the University of Toronto; and has had hundreds of sessions with individual actors working throughout the industry across North America.

John has also worked as a phonetic transcriptionist and is fluent in the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (though he hasn’t quite mastered the clicks).  As an actor, John can be seen in television and theatre, can be heard on the radio and in animation, and can be played in several video games. He is also an avid environmentalist, and hopes that the growing interest in accents and dialects will help us realise that we all share just one small world, and that it needs all our love and care.
